Linda Perillo
Soprano
Linda Perillo has had a distinguished career as a soprano soloist over the last 15 years, in Europe, the UK and North America. She has performed and recorded extensively with orchestras such as The San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra, and the Montreal, Vancouver, Winnipeg and Edmonton Symphony Orchestras, in works ranging from the Baroque to Contemporary Music.
Born in Canada, she received her initial musical training in piano and singing at an early age, and was the recipient of many awards and scholarships. She was a winner at the International Tri Bach Competition in 1985, which enabled her to further her vocal studies in England.
Since 1990 she has been working mainly on repertoire from the 17th and 18th centuries, much of which has not previously been performed or recorded. Her concerts and recordings, as well as her performances of baroque operas, have been highly acclaimed. She has worked with many of the leading period instrument ensembles, including The English Concert, The Gabrieli Consort, La Grande Ecurie, La Chapelle Royale, The Wiener Akademie, the Rheinische Kanotorei, The Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra and the MDR Radio Orchestra, Leipzig. She has been a featured soloist on numerous occasions with The Israel Camerata, and has performed in festivals in the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Italy, France, Belgium, Poland, Croatia, Slovenia, Hong Kong, Cuba and the Philippines.
Timothy Kraemer
Baroque Cello
Timothy has specialised on the baroque cello for nearly 20 years performing and recording with many of the London based period orchestra groups including The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, The English Concert of which he is a permanent member, The Academy of Ancient Music and The Sixteen. In the 80s he was part of the pioneering group The London Classical Players which recorded all the Beethoven Symphonies on period instruments for the first time.
Timothy is also a composer and has had many pieces published by Faber, Schotts, OUP and the Associated Board. He is also a keen photographer.
Layil Barr
Recorders
Layil studied at the Jerusalem Rubin Academy of Music and Trinity College of Music, London with Philip Thorby. During this time she made broadcasts for the Jerusalem Music Centre and won several awards including the America-Israel Cultural Foundation Award, the Dorothy Stone Award and the TCM Silver Medal for Early Music. As a soloist Layil has performed with various orchestras including The Royal Artillery Orchestra and The Israeli Chamber Orchestra, and has toured the USA, China, Korea, Israel, Egypt, Italy, Spain, France, Ireland and the UK. Her chamber music activities include performances with La Concert Des Nations, under the direction of Jordi Savall.
Layil is a co-director of Eclipse (
www.eclipse-baroquefusion.com) and is a member of the early music ensembles Minerva and Siena, with whom she has performed in the Purcell Room, and made recordings of music by Salomone Rossi for the Classical Recording Company.
David Wright
Harpsichord
David Wright completed his studies at the Royal College of Music, graduating with distinction with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Performance in 2003, where he also won the Richard the Third and the Century Fund prizes. In May 2003 he won first prize in the prestigious Broadwood International Harpsichord Competition and subsequently became artist in residence at Fenton House were the competition is held. David has worked with acclaimed soloists such as Emma Kirkby and played harpsichord in a world premiere play staring Richard O'Brien. As a soloist and accompanist David has performed throughout the UK and abroad and has worked with many renowned ensembles including London Handel Orchestra, the London Concertante, and English Touring Opera. David's radio and television broadcasts include performances as a finalist in the York Early Music Competition and solos at the Handel House London (both for BBC Radio3) and more recently a recital as part of the Belfast Music Festival, broadcast on BBC Northern Ireland. David is regularly engaged as a soloist at the Handel House Museum and as an accompanist and repetiteur at Dartington International Summer School.
David is currently organist of St John on Bethnal Green were he runs a small music festival every summer, the last two years have included the first modern performances of Thomas Arne's The Blind Beggar of Bethnal Green and a hitherto undiscovered mass by the Italian composer Giovanni Paulo Cima. During 2006 David will perform the Goldberg Variations at the Winchfield Festival (23rd of June), Grosvenor Chapel (14th of July), St Brides Fleet Street (18th of July) and The Handel House Museum (23rd of November). Other future events include a solo recital at Hatchlands (home of the historic Cobb Collection) and a performance Rameau's Platée with The English Bach Festival, in Athens (November 06).
David also has an interest in the building and restoration of harpsichords. He recently completed a copy of a late 17th century English instrument which he uses regularly in concerts.
